Can new 92 and 93 black and tri-color ink cartridges be swapped in place of 65 black and tri-color?

My HP DeskJet 5440 bit the dust recently after MANY years of great use.  It ran much longer than I expected!

However, just prior to its death, I went to the store and bought several new ink cartridges -- now ostensibly useless.  My receipts are long gone, etc., and I'd rather not try to barter at the returns counter at Office Depot if I can avoid it.

I am now the owner of a new HP DeskJet 3755, and the HP 65 black and tri-color cartridges look identical to my 5440's HP 92 (black) and 93 (tri-color) cartridges.

Before I open the brand new packaging up on those 92 and 93 cartridges, I'd like to know:  Can new 92 and 93 black and tri-color ink cartridges be swapped in place of 65 black and tri-color?

The HP 92/93 cartridges are NOT compatible with Deskjet 3755.

However i'd suggest you not to open the packaging of the new HP 92/93 cartridges before you contact HP Support.
