I can not register printer via smart app. I have tried turning off router and printer. Unplugging printer. Register via online. But still will not register. I have wasted a day trying.

Hi @MarkC72,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing the trouble with registering your HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe printer. Since you’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional suggestions that might help:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network. You can usually find this option in the printer’s settings menu.
Update HP Smart App:
- Make sure that the HP Smart app on your Android device is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, issues can arise from outdated versions.
Network Compatibility:
- Verify that your printer and mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Some network configurations or guest networks can cause connectivity issues.
Printer’s IP Address:
- Try manually entering the printer’s IP address into the HP Smart app. You can usually find the IP address on the printer’s control panel or print a network configuration page.
HP Smart App Permissions:
- Check the app permissions on your Android device. Ensure that the HP Smart app has permission to access your network and other necessary features.
Firewall/Security Settings:
- If you have a firewall or security software on your network, it might be blocking the connection. Try temporarily disabling it to see if it resolves the issue.
Reboot Devices:
- Reboot your Android device, router, and printer. Sometimes a fresh start can resolve connectivity issues.
Alternative Registration:
- Try registering the printer using a different device or computer to see if the issue persists.
