The following message displays on the printer's touchscreen and will not go away no matter what I do - unplug & reset, click "ok" in the bottom right corner, etc.
Message > "Non-Instant Ink Cartridge - The cartridges you inserted are not monitored by your HP Instant Ink service. If monthly billing has begun for your Instant Ink service, it will continue."
I signed up for the Instant Ink service in Jun 2020 but never installed the cartridges they sent me - they are still in the boxes. I have only used HP cartridges bought at the store. The "Ink Status" section of my account states "Your service hasn't started yet. We shipped you ink, however your billing won't begin until you install an HP Instant Ink cartridge. Use your current cartridges until empty, then install the shipped cartridge."
Since the message will not go away I can't use the touchscreen for anything at all thus rendering the printer relatively useless from that perspective. I need to get rid of the message so I can use the touchscreen to make copies, scan, etc. Thanks for any help.

SandyTechy20 - thank you for your help. I did end up cancelling my Instant Ink subscription since I hadn't yet used it. I do think it's unfortunate someone at HP thought it a good idea to put a permanent message across the printer that I purchased rendering the touchscreen control options inoperable. Again, thank you for your help!

I'm having the same issue with the "non-instant ink Cartridge" message and the printer will not allow me to Hit Okay or clear the printer screen. I can't use my printer screen to copy, etc. What steps do I need to take to resolve this problem?

Thanks to zero help from HP, I figured out how to fix this. You need to use your web browser to log onto the web interface of your printer (good luck if you don't know what that means!), then create a password to change the settings. It's under the Settings banner (top of the page) > Security section (left side menu) > Password Settings. My guess is you need to create this "local" password since unsubscribing from Instant Ink means you can't log onto the printer with your "cloud" HP account any longer. HP wants to force you to create a local password for the admin website of the printer, and their method of forcing you to do that and informing you of the mandatory requirement is by giving you the vague and entirely useless message on your printer of "Non-Instant Ink Cartridge - The cartridges you inserted are not monitored by your HP Instant Ink service. If monthly billing has begun for your Instant Ink service, it will continue."

I can see many people seem to be having the issue with a message that is stuck on the control panel which stops any action from the control panel. I have installed a HP cartridge from my instant ink scheme and the mess say "Thank you for installing ...etc..." but by pressing the ok button the message wont go and is stopping me from accessing the control panel to carry out actions, unless i use the HP smart system which is not always practical
I have tried all I can think of to remove it but failed and can't find the specifc actions on-line - can somebody please help - its driving me nuts...all i want to do is use the printer!! 😞

I am having the same issue but I accidentally figured out a bypass for those of you who are still struggling. If you open the cover of the ink cartridges it will prompt you to close the door before continuing. If you hide the message, it will allow you to use your printer normally ( Unless you close the door). I had just printed 20 pages with the door open.
