I’m assuming this AirPrint is only for printers with wifi/Bluetooth?

But the certificate has been expired for a year. That doesn’t explain this all happening now.

Yes, correct, but I couldn't get Bluetooth to work, only WiFi.

I don't think Airprint is available as a driver option for USB connected printers.

I am having the same issue that the others are having. I am unable to print due to the 'filter' failed error. This happens on my work and home Mac. Someone mentioned an issue with HP cert. This makes sense. When I tried to reload the printer drivers there is a message saying "The package was signed with a certificate that has expired...".

It looks like a number of people are not able to print due to this issue. This needs to be updated as soon as possible.

doing the keychain access method did not work for me.  😞  The digicert high was not expired  I couldn't find anything that looked like an expired HP certificate.  😞

So far the Airprint option is working.  I'm 5 for 5 updating the laptops in our office.

I'm on Mojave at the moment.  Did you try overriding the certificate expiration in Keychain?  Is the error visible there?

it seems as if Apple has revoked some of HP certificates - no reason stated that I have seen so far.  This issue is across multiple HP printers (some less than 2years old) and installing the latest drivers doesn't solve the issue

Very mysterious - must be causing widespread panic and inability to print.  One person had lost all printing in a school district (about 400 mac books!)

A work around on Apple community suggests going with a fixed IP address for the printer, adding a "new" printer with that address, using IPP and configuring as a Generic PostScript Printer.

This loses functionality but enables you to print.  Others have suggested using Airprint

Another post here says

I've spent hours on this issue. It appears that the HP Drivers do not work with Catalina 10.15.7. Their driver package security certificate has expired and the code sign is out of date for HP Utility. Until HP issues an updated driver, which they may not do because it mostly affects older printers, you can either try to go back to an earlier version of Catalina or buy a new printer.

I know that if I'm going to buy another printer, it won't be an HP nor a Samsung.

Would someone from HP care to explain why their support is so bad.

HP Recommended

Drat!  Looks like Airprint is the only option until HP solves this.

Does anyone know if HP is bothering to fix this issue? It looks like an awful lot of people with the same issue. Do they review the forums? I have a 6300 and it worked fine yesterday. This is obviously an issue on their end that disrupted all of our days!

Can someone provide a Tel number or email for HP support.  The more people that contact them the more likely they are to get the message
