I recently switched my internet service from Verizon to Spectrum and am having difficult connecting to wireless printing. I am currently conected via USB and I ran the HP setup program to connect to my wireless network. It automatically detected my network, but provided the following error message:
Issue: Incorrect wireless password.
Solution: The WPA security passphrase you configured on your HP printer does not match the WPA passphrase used by the wireless router. Configure the printer using the correct WPA passphrase.
I know the password I am using is correct. I reset the default settings on my printer and changed my router setting from WPA2 to WPA as suggested by some people on the forum. I've been working for days on this issue and nothing I've tried has resolve the issue. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Hi! @Rob138, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I understand you have issues connecting the printer to the wireless network.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Are the printer and PC connected to the same wireless network?
Is your printer working with USB connection?
Have you replaced the router recently?
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Try the steps recommended below.
When you subscribe to an Internet service, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides you with a network password. Look for this password on your wireless router or in the original paperwork that came from your ISP. The password might be labeled Wireless Key, security password, WPA2 password, WEP key, or similar.
If you are unable to find your password, contact your ISP for assistance.
A router with the network password on a label
In Windows, search for view network connections, and select View network connections from the search results.
The Network Connections window opens.
Right-click the network name, then click Status.
The Wi-Fi Status or Wireless Network Connection Status window opens.
Click Wireless Properties.
Click the Security tab, then click the Show characters check box to see the wireless network password.
Refer this article to know more information about finding WPA passwords.
If you still have issues connecting your printer the router try restoring the networks to default on your printer and try connecting it again.
Restore network settings to default settings.
1. Press the Wireless button to display the Wireless
Menu.
2. From the Wireless Menu, select Settings.
3. From the Settings menu, select Restore Defaults.
4. Confirm selection to restore defaults

I appreciate your efforts to try and assist me in connecting my printer to my WiFi network. So far I continue to be unsuccessful in making the connection. I would like to respond to each of your questions/suggestions as listed below.
@A4Apollo wrote:Did you make any changes to your printer? The only change I made to the printer is to restore the default settings.
Are the printer and PC connected to the same wireless network? My PC is connected to the netwrk via an ethernet cable. My computer does not have a wireless card. The printer is connected to the PC by a USB cable. The printer is not connected to the wireless network. That is the problem I am trying to resolve.
Is your printer working with USB connection? Yes
Have you replaced the router recently? Yes, as I mentioned in my origional post, I recently switched my internet service provider from Verizon to Spectrum. In doing so I received a new router with a different username and passwork
You then provided detailed instructions on how to locate the correct network password. As I mentioned in my previous post, I am sure I entered the correct password. It is the password I used to coonect my other devices to the network. It is the one locted on the label on the bottom of the new router. I also confirmed this by contacting Spectrum and also found it listed in my router control pannel settings.
Try the steps recommended below.
I do not have access the Wireless Connection Status window because I do not have a wireless card in my computer.
Refer this article to know more information about finding WPA passwords. As mentioned above, I'm sure I have the correct WPA password.
If you still have issues connecting your printer the router try restoring the networks to default on your printer and try connecting it again. As mentioned in my previous post, I already restored the defaults on my printer and it didn't help.
Restore network settings to default settings. I did this.
1. Press the Wireless button to display the Wireless
Menu.
2. From the Wireless Menu, select Settings.
3. From the Settings menu, select Restore Defaults.
4. Confirm selection to restore defaults

I don't know if the fact that my PC is not connected to my router wirelessly, is preventing me from setting the printer up via a wireless connection. Several technicians I spoke to said it shouldn't make a difference.
I would appreciate any help you can provide in helping me resolve this matter.

In your recent post you suggested that I "Try connecting the printer to network using the USB to wireless method." As I mentioned in my previous posts I already tried this method several times and it didn't work. I just followed the procedure again following the directions you provided and again it didn't work. The HP Setup program detects my network. After I enter the passwork an error message comes up saying that the WPA password in incorrect. As I mentioned several times before I am absolutely sure I am entering the correct password.
You also suggested "if you still have issues connecting the printer to network try using an IOS device and connect the printer to network using HP smart app." I tried this metod to, but the app doesn't detect the printer. I tried using the IOS smart app to install the printer but it doesn't recognize my printer.
I would appreciate any addition help you may be able to provide. Before you do, however, please read all the posts I submitted and all the things I already tried. I'm sure there must be a solution to my problem. problem. Please keep in ming that my PC is connected to my network via ethernet cable. My PC does not have a wireless card installed. Also, my printer is connected to my PC via a cable and is functioning normally. My printer has wireless capability and I want to be able to print from my IOS mobile wireless devices, but so far I haven't been able to get the printer successfully setup for wireless printing. My printer is an HP Deskject 3054A. My internet service provider is Spectrum.

@Rob138, Thanks for your prompt response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned you are getting WPA password is incorrect error.
Try restoring the router settings to factory defaults and connect the printer to netwok again and check if it helps.
Printer provides wireless printing on the 2.4GHz bandwidth:
If the router supports 5GHz, make sure the router is set to also provide wireless on 2.4GHz.
The security type must match on both router and on the wireless. For example, if the router is using WPA / WPA2, the printer must be set to use this security type.
If the issue still persists, please contact HP support they should take remote of your PC and assist you further with the issue.
Please contact HP support using this link. Click Here

In response to my last post you suggested "Try restoring the router settings to factory defaults and connect the printer to netwok again and check if it helps." As I mentioned before, I recently swithed my internet provider from Verizon to Spectrum. I was able to access my router settings, but I didn't see an option to restore to the factory defaults. I did restore the printer to the factory default settings and that didn't help.
You also suggested "If the router supports 5GHz, make sure the router is set to also provide wireless on 2.4GHz." I checked and my router is set ti provide both 5GHz and 2.4 GHz.
You also said "the security type must match on both router and wireless. For example, if the router is using WPA/WPA2, the printer must be set to use this security type." The security type is set to WAP/WPA2 on my router. I don't know how to gain access to my printer setting to see if it matches. I don't know the IP address of my printer if that is what I need to know. to get to my printer settings.
You then suggest "If the issue still persists, please contact HP support they should take remote of your PC and assist you further with the issue.
I followed the link you provided for HP Support, but was unable to discuss the issue I am having with anyone. I couldn't gain access to anyplace I could communicate with a real person.
I would appreciate it if you would put me in touch with someone I could actually talk to. I wouldn't mind giving up control of my PC to someone who could help me resolve my problem. This is my fourth post, and I am no closer to getting access to wireless printing.

Hi! @Rob138, thanks for your response again.
You need to security settings on the printer. You need to access the printer's EWS page.
Try the steps recommended below to access the printers EWS page.
Print a network configuration page to get the printers IP address.
1. Press the Wireless button to display the Wireless Menu.
2. From the Wireless Menu, select Print Reports.
3. From the Print Reports menu select Configuration.
Obtain your printer IP address, and then type it into an Internet browser on a computer or mobile device to access the EWS.
-
Make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device.
-
Obtain the printer IP address, the unique identification number assigned to the printer on the network.
On printers with touchscreen or menu-based control panels, find the IP address in the Wireless menu or in network settings. For printers without a control panel menu, print a network configuration page to obtain the IP address.
-
Type the IP address into the Internet browser address line, and then press Enter to open the printer EWS.
-
If a website security certificate displays, click Continue.
Also, if you still have issues after changing the settings. Please share the country you are contacting us from so I can share you the contact details for the support.
Hope to hear from you soon! 🙂

I was unable to get my printer's IP address from my printer's control pannel, so I printed a HP Network Configuration Page. Nothing in the report specifically referred to an "IP Address", but in the "General Information" section next to an item listed as "URL(S) for Embedded Web Server" there are two URLS listed. The first is "http://HP49DEF8" and the second is "http://192.168.223.1". I tried typing the second one into my browser, but I got a message saying "Can't reach this page".
I then printed a "Wireless Network Test Results" report from my printer. Under the "Current Configuration" section next to the "IP address" item it says "not applicable". In this same report, under the wireless section, it indicates that "Wireless On" and "Wireless Working" both "Pass". I don't know why I can't access my printer settings.
I am from the Albany, NY area of the United States. I would appreciate it if you would put me in contact with a support person who might be able to help me.
Thank you for your efforts to assist me.

Hi! @Rob138,
Again it sounds like the printer is not connected to network.
Since we have exhausted with all the steps. As a last resort you can try performing a semi full reset on the printer and connect the printer to network again.
As the steps to perform a semi full reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer. I will share you the steps through a private message.
Please watch your inbox for more information.
Note: If you still have issues after trying out the steps. It is an issue with the router, Please contact your internet service provider for more assistance.
Hope this works!
Take Care! 🙂
