HP Envy 17 laptop & HP Photosmart C7280 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP ENVY m7-k010dx Notebook PC, Serial Number: [edited], Product Number: G6U46UA

HP Photosmart C7280, Serial No. [edited], Product Number CC567A

I followed the instructions in the printer manual and successfully set up the printer for a wireless connection. I looked at the devices connected to my AT&T modem and they consisted of my laptop, iPhone, and printer (HP56DA09) with an IP address of 192.168.1.70. But I still couldn't print using a wireless connection.

I used the HP Print and Scan Doctor and selected the Photosmart printer (it showed up as a USB device). I selected Network-Wireless as the method of connecting the devices, and the next screen stated that "Printer Not Connected to Network". I clicked on that and selected "Printer with a display panel" on the next page.

I had already used the Wireless Setup Wizard to setup the printer, but Step 3 was a problem: "From the home screen on the printer display, choose the Wireless Icon." There is no Wireless Icon on the printer display. But I entered the IP Address for the printer shown on the HP Network Configuration Page (192.168.1.70) and hit continue.

This is the message on the next page:
"Unable to Find the Printer
The IP Address entered is either incorrect or it is from a different wireless network that has the same name as your network."

I then tried the option, Configure Wireless over USB. I connected the USB cable between the computer and printer, and I checked to see that the printer status was "Ready". I proceeded and the statement on the next page was "Please wait while we complete the USB connection...". I waited and waited but nothing happened. I clicked on the X to close the screen and received this message, "HP Print and Scan Doctor is not responding", so I closed the program.

I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.3.1 again and it went through the diagnostic, which stated that "The selected product is not connected." I chose the Network-Wireless option to connect the printer and the message, "Printer Not Connected to Network", was displayed on the next page.

I connected the computer and printer directly with a USB and clicked on Retry. The printer was found and I clicked on "Fix Printing". Since there is no Wireless Icon on the printer display, I chose the option, "Printer without a display panel". I plugged in a USB cable and received the message, "Please wait while we complete the USB connection. . .". A test page was printed and the message was still displayed, but nothing else happened. The software apparently crashed at this point. I clicked on the X again to close the screen and received this message, "HP Print and Scan Doctor is not responding", so I closed the program.2020-06-13 HP Network Configuration Page.jpg

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

If the issue persists, create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)

2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.

3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.

4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Let me know if this helps.
