Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying print 5X7 Xmas card envelopes, from Word, on my fairly new 8710, which I have done many times in the past on other printers.   The problem is that the envelopes print with return address about 1 inch down from the left top corner.   On Word, I have selected various alternative envelope sizes and alternative orientations (left, center, and right), to no avail.   The 8710 feeds envelopes from a front tray rather than rear feed.   On that front tray, I see that that it is embossed 4X6 by the envelope embossment, but yet I can place 5X7 envelopes in the tray and snug them together using the sliding guides no problem.   Is it possible that the 8710 can print only up to 4X6 envelopes which explains why I have an inch top gap on my 5X7 envelopes  (5-4= 1inch)?    I doubt it, but this problem is very baffling to me.   And of course I am frustrated.  Any advice would be appreciated.   Thanks

I do not understand any of the comments regarding "embossment" so I might be missing something that you are trying to explain.  ?

The printer supports standard and custom sized envelopes and paper as explained in the Specifications > Paper Handling > Suported Envelopes and Supported custom sizes

Envelope size 5x7 inches is not listed as a "standard" supported size.  Create a Custom Paper Size form from a supported envelope for your 5x7 inch envelopes.  Measure the envelope to be sure you are entering the correct size for the custom form.

Creating Custom Paper Sizes

The User Guide explains how to load envelopes into the main tray of your printer. (Starting on Page 20)

After the envelopes are loaded, look on the printer control panel for a message about "Paper Size" - if you see such a message, click "Modify" (or similar wording), and change the paper size to Custom.

General Example:

Word > Mailings > Envelopes >

Add Return and Delivery Address >

Options

If envelope size is not listed, select Custom and enter the size of the envelope

Make other changes

Click Print

If necessary, select your printer from the drop down / menu

In the Print Dialog, set / check / verify options, including those in Preferences / Properties / Print Dialog (wording varies)

Click Print

Dragon-fur---thanks for your response which was very clear.  As it turns out, my problem was totally due to my stupidity---I measured my envelopes incorrectly, and once I putin the correct size (custom), they printed out beautifully.  So sorry to have taken up your time on this one.

You are welcome.

No worries; one of the reasons we provide the detail is to give you the chance to check the process by illustrating how it is supposed to work.

Happy Printing!
