I am having trouble printing .pdf files. This used to happen occasionally, but now I can't print any .pdfs at all.

When I try to print, the job goes to the queue, but then nothing happens. The dialog says "Ready to Print," but the job never progresses.

I have tired printing from Adobe and Preview and I get the same results. I even tried reinstalling the printer software, but this does not help either.

It could be an issue with the printer driver installed on your Mac. Removing existing printer driver and then setting up the printer with Apple AirPrint may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Let me know how it goes!

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand your are not able to print PDF files and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

Are you able to copy documents?

Are you able to print other file formats. Eg: Word, TXT?

How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

Let me know!

Thanks!

I am able to copy documents.

I tried to completely remove the printer and re-add it and now I can't print anything from my computer PDFs, text, etc.

I am using the printer wirelessly.

Yes, that worked this time! Thanks.

Any idea if "Bonjour Manlfunction" is a concern. I am seeing the same thing in my dialog box.

You are welcome 🙂

Glad to hear that the issue is resolved. I don't think Bonjour was causing the issue, multicast packet (Bonjour) allows Mac to locate the printer on a WiFi network. I believe it was the driver that was causing the problem, that's why adding printer with Apple AirPrint resolved the issue.

If you ever require any technical assistance, feel free to reach out to us. Have a great day!
