OfficeJetPro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I create an envelope in Word ... set all the options for a #10 business envelope ... load envelopes into the HP8710 paper tray ... when the tray door is closed, the printer verifies what I loaded ... I hit print ... I hear the printer activate ... it starts to load the envelope (I know this because when I later opened the door, I can see that it grabbed the envelope) ... then the printer stops ... and I get the following message on the printer screen: The paper size detected by the printer does not match the paper size selected (Letter (8.5x11in.)) for the print job.   Make sure the paper size is correct to continue the job.   Touch  X  to cancel   For the life of me, I don't know what's wrong.   I set the printer options correctly, loaded the envelopes correctly.   Can anyone help me, please?

@MikeS5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Please follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

It still didn’t work.  I neglected to mention that I was using Microsoft Edge.  I was also printing things off the internet and the print would have black boxes in the upper left.  While I was waiting for a response to the envelope issue, I tried printing envelopes using Internet Explorer.  They came out fine.  I printed things off the internet.  They came out fine.    (No black boxes).  This leads me to believe that the issues are with the browser; not the printer.  Thanks anyway for the assistance.

@MikeS5,

Perfect, I am really glad to hear that!

I recommend you try reinstalling the browser and check if it helps.
