@rbuckpi, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're unable to remove the paper path cover on your HP OfficeJet Pro 5E printer due to it being stuck, here are steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source for safety.

Check for Visible Obstructions:

  • Look for any visible pieces of jammed paper or debris that might be causing the paper path cover to stick. Use a flashlight to see inside the printer carefully.

Apply Gentle Pressure:

  • Gently wiggle and apply a bit of pressure on the cover. Avoid using excessive force as it might damage the printer. Sometimes, wiggling in different directions while pulling out can help free a stuck cover without causing any damage.

Inspect for Residual Paper:

  • Inspect for any small pieces of paper that could be wedged in the mechanisms holding the cover. Removing these might allow the cover to release.

Use Tools Carefully:

  • If necessary, gently use a non-metallic tool to assist in releasing the cover. A plastic spudger can help in leveraging without scratching or damaging the printer components.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
