Please help!  I can't stop my HP OfficeJet 4500 from printing a Status Sheet at end of each document.  It reads:

     GET / cdm/system/v1/status HTTP/1.1

     HOST:  localhost

It never used to print these -- it just started when my laptop automatically upgraded to Microsoft Edge.

The only answer I've gotten so far was to go into PRINT/OPTIONS/DISPLAY and UNCLICK the "Print Document Properties," but that button is NOT checked.

I've also been told to update my printer drivers -- but there ARE no updates.

My laptop did load Microsoft Edge without my permission, and this all happened after that install.???

Please help!

Hi @Imapepper99,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your Can't stop HP OfficeJet 4500 from printing Status Sheet at end of each document.. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

Good Morning Gaya1239 -- Thank you for checking the status of my query.

I DID try your suggestion to download and install the latest printer firmware .....

I checked using Print and Scan Doctor a couple of times, and my account shows that the firmware and updates are all updated.

I've also seen articles that suggest going to Printers and Faxes on computer (mine only shows printers, not fax); the Right-Click on icon for "Properties"; then go to Device Settings tab and look under "Installable Options" -- First, my computer only shows Printers and Devices NOT "Printers and Faxes.

and under Device Settings, I CANNOT find INSTALLABLE OPTIONS -- I briefly saw "Installed Options," but nothing was listed under that tab.

PLEASE help me -- I'm so frustrated with this qwerk, and I cannot afford to keep buying paper and cartridges!  (Darn, there it goes, it just printed ANOTHER one!!!!!, Gonna have to shut it down again!)

Thanks again Gaya1239

Hi @Imapepper99,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4500 printer is printing a status sheet at the end of each document and you want to stop this behavior, here are some steps you can try:

Check Printer Settings:

  • On your computer, go to the Control Panel or Settings.
  • Navigate to Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners).
  • Right-click on your HP OfficeJet 4500 printer and select "Printing preferences" or "Printer properties."
  • Look for an option related to "Status Sheet" or "Separators" and make sure it's set to "Off" or "None." This might prevent the status sheet from printing after each document.

Printer Control Panel:

  • On the physical printer, navigate through the control panel menu.
  • Look for a "Setup" or "Settings" menu.
  • Find an option related to "Status Sheet" or "Separators" and disable it.

Driver Update:

  • Visit the official HP website and search for the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet 4500 model.
  • Download and install the updated driver for your operating system.
  • Sometimes, driver updates include fixes for known issues, and this might resolve the problem.

Reset Printer to Defaults:

  • On the printer's control panel, find the option to restore the printer settings to default.
  • This might help if the printer's settings have been inadvertently changed.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website.
  • Firmware updates can sometimes resolve issues with the printer's behavior.

Disable Diagnostic Printing:

  • Some printers have a diagnostic or self-test printing feature that can be triggered by a specific key combination or menu option. Ensure that this feature is turned off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
