I am also having this issue, my HP model is a Laserjet 100 Color MFP M175NW

I am in the UK but a call to HP put me through to a young lady in India who had clearly no idea how to solve this issue, plus didn't have any idea who would.

She did however give me the name of a company who would supposedly help me, but they turned out not to exist.

Since HP seem to exist in a Harry Potter world of mystery, could someone give me the magic spell to fix this issue?

Thank you

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!  No one has bothered to respond to my begging for help, not even someone who may have been given the  secret incantations!

Sorry to hear that Christy, doesn't look promising does it?

Funny, in the automotive world, you onlyhave to ask a technical question on how to fix an issue on a classic or antique car and you'll get tons of help and advice. However trying to fix what should be a simple issue on a printer thats couple of years old and its a wall of silence.

Unfortunately I can't fix this issue with wrenches or it would be done by now.

Yeah, no kidding!  I think we've MAYBE used this $300 printer about two years?  I've used $95 injet printers for years and years without problems, so I'm sure not impressed with HP!

I am also receiving this message.  I have cleaned all debris from inside the printer, but the error persists.  Will you please message the next steps I should take to clear this error?

For the benefit of others with this problem, (and with no assistance from HP), I have managed to speak to a very helpful independent printer specialist who was happy to discuss the technical side of this problem (without charge).

The problem stems from sensors inside the printer that tell the printer what is happening and what message to display. The sensors are fragile and not very sophisticated and can easily be damaged and misread and send wrong message to the printer.

In my case, the issue happened after a large paper jam, (a seperate issue). I opened the back of the printer and removed the wad of jammed paper. In doing so, it is entirely possible that this affected the sensor so that it thinks the paper is still jammed. The printer engineer suggested downloading the HP Service Manual for the printer and looking for the location of the sensor. Unfortunately, though the manual instructs how somebody handy with a screwdriver could dissassemble the printer in stages, the sensor is not shown. Probably why HP don't reply to these problem requests.

The cause of the original problem was probably a paper feed ' seperation pad' problem which is a part that tells the printer to select one sheet at a time. Although this part can be easily accessed and replaced cheaply, we still have the hidden sensor issue inside the printer.

Solution? I went and bought a new BROTHER printer!   I may dissasemble my printer and look for the sensor and see if I can fix it, but not a priority. If you can find a helpful printer engineer you might save your HP, but labour charges might easily eclipse the price of replacing it. Such is life in the throwaway 21st Century.

Hope this reply has been helpful to someone.

Hi

Did anyone get an answer to this?

Of course not. . . this is why I will NEVER buy another HP product again. . . I don't know why I even did it this time, as I quit buying their computers several years ago.  It's pitiful that a printer fails so early in it's lifetime with a simple error and HP refuses to help.  We didn't even have a paper jam in ours, we printed a page a two, next print job it shows an error, we look. . . nothing jammed anywhere, go as deep into the printer as we can to find no problems anywhere, so basically we have to just TOSS ? the printer because it's surely not worth shipping it somewhere and paying for a repair!  Pitiful!

Please send me the solution to this... I understand it may be needed to reset the printer

@SUN222

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help. I understand that you have an HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175NW printer and you get an error message as jam in the output bin.

Let me know if any changes took place recently or of there was any paper jam in the printer. Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Please perform the steps from this link to perform paper jam errors: http://hp.care/2hla9ay.

If the issue still persists then please perform the printer reset. I have sent you a private message with the steps to perform a reset.

Hope this helps. Cheers! 🙂
