I am attempting to print on paper that 6.75x9 in. I have set the paper size for Tray 2 to custom, but every time I attempt to print, I get an error saying "unexpected paper size", and a prompt to load Letter size paper. I have tried many different things in MS Word and the HP printer driver to force the printer to accept the paper, but nothing works. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw is not recognizing the custom paper size correctly, which is why it's defaulting back to Letter size. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Check Paper Size Settings on the Printer Control Panel
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Paper Setup > Tray 2.
- Ensure the paper size is set to Custom and matches 6.75 x 9 in exactly.
Adjust Paper Size in Printer Driver (Windows)
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw and select Printer Preferences.
- Under the Paper/Quality tab, click Advanced.
- Set Paper Size to Custom and enter 6.75 x 9 inches.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Check MS Word Print Settings
- In MS Word, go to File > Print.
- Select your HP printer and click Printer Properties.
- Confirm that the paper size matches the custom size (6.75 x 9 in).
- Ensure the Tray Selection matches where the paper is loaded (Tray 2).
Disable 'Scale to Fit' or 'Print Scaling'
- In the print dialog, look for options like "Scale to Fit", "Page Scaling", or "Fit to Page".
- Set scaling to 100% or Actual Size.
Manually Load Paper (Bypass Tray)
- If Tray 2 still does not accept the paper, try using the bypass/manual feed tray.
- Load the 6.75 x 9 in paper and adjust the paper guides snugly.
- When printing, ensure you select Manual Feed as the tray option.
Update Printer Firmware & Drivers
- Go to HP official website and download the latest firmware and drivers for your printer.
- Install updates and restart both the printer and your computer.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it for a few minutes, and then power it back on.
- Try setting up the custom paper size again.
