HP Envy Photo 7155
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I cannot connect to the ENVY Phot 7155 now, but was able to before the new OS was installed.

I am running MacOS X 10.13.6 and using McAfee firewall.

I cannot even see the printer in the list of wireless devices, but it is connected to the router from the priniter touch screen. And, I can connect and print a document from my iPhone without an issue.

HP support has logged into my computer and performed some tasks, like setting the router setup to a different channel from automatic, but that should also foul-up my iPhone access as well.

Any suggestions?

Nick

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I got to know from your post that your Mac is not able to detect the network connected printer and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Approximately how far is the printer and Mac located from your WiFi router?

Have you tried temporarily disabling the firewall?

Let me know!

Senan,

The computer is about 5 feet away from the printer and router.

I tried disabling the firewall within McAfee, to no avail. I will not disable the firewall in my OS.

The router is an Arris NVG599.

I've had no issues in connecting to the printer with any iOS device.

It's possible that the router is not forwarding Bonjour packets. Bonour is a a set of protocols that allows  communication between Mac and network-connected Printer. Arris routers have trouble forwarding Bonjour packets. Could you please check with your internet service provider and let me know if the router is able to forward bonjour packets.

Great idea, but if this setup was working before and suddenly stopped printing (or even recognizing the HP printer's wi-fi) on the computer, where would I begin to reset the router to reuse the bonjour protocol?

I believe Bonjour(Multicast) protocol settings can be adjust in router settings. However, I'm not sure where exactly the settings are. Could you please check with your internet service provider or the router manufacturer. They should be able to adjust the settings on the router. You can also try updating the router firmware.

Well, oh dopey me...

Apparently, after begining to check out the IP address and trying to manually setup a printer in the System Preferences, I suddenly realized that the McAfee firewall was turned on. After disabling it, I was able to finally, successfully download the drivers for the printer and scanner and install them. All works as advertised, even the iOS devices.

Many thanks!!!!
