Hello to all,
I purchased a new printer a couple of days ago, did the installation and configuration with HP Easy Start application and everything looked fine.
When I tried to turn the printer off at the end of the business day I got the message on the printer's screen that "Initialization in Progress" and there's no option to turn off the printer.
I can print with no problem. It is connected through USB and after the problem started I also connect it through WiFi to make a firmware update which I did.
Any advice?

Hi @GeoChr,
Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very Good Day to you. 🙂 Hope you are doing well. 🙂 I understand that you need assistance regarding initialization error with the printer. I’ll be delighted to assist you with this.
You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Commendable diagnosis of the issue was done. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
- Did you bypass power strips and connect the printer directly to the wall outlet?
- Have you done a hard reset on the printer?
For starters, please perform a hard reset on the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- NOTE:
- HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
- If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
- Then check if the issue is resolved.
Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply. Please perform all the steps diligently and patiently as this should do the trick for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
