HP Deskjet 1112
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello, last Friday, I bought a new HP Deskjet 1112 printer.  I downloaded the installation software from HP; I did not use the supplied disc.  The installation went smoothly without any errors.  I installed the printer via USB and that is how I use it.  During installation, I removed the check marks for two optional installations.  One, was to have HP monitor my printer usage and the other was to install BING as my default browser.  Aside from omitting those two installtions, I installed everything else.

I tested the printer and printed out some graphical files.

However, when I browse my various jpg pictures, I noticed that they do not open with any HP-specific software.  I have Nero software installed on my machine and my picture files open with Nero PhotoSnap Viewer by default.  However, if I make the attempt to change the file association to another software product no HP photo viewer/management programs are available for selection.

I used to use an old HP Deskjet D1430 printer on this computer.  I had removed all previous software but I remember using HP Photo Essentials.  I searched online and found an installation file named, HP Photosmart Essential pse_350_enu.

I ran this installation file but it failed to install because it claims that the program is already installed on my machine.  It offered to uninstall it but I exited out because I didn't want to perform something like that until I had a better understanding of what is going on.

I checked Programs under Control Panel and all that shows to be installed are the following:

HP Dropbox Plugin

HP Google Drive Plugin

HP Deskjet 1110 series Basic Device Software

HP Deskjet 1110 series Help

I would like to have the ability to edit picture files when necessary, and to be able to tile multiple (smaller) pictures on one print page.

What HP software is available to me for my printer that will enable me to edit and manage my print files?

Do I need to carry through with the uninstallation first and then try the PhotoSmart installation again?

I was afraid that it would remove ALL my HP software that was installed at the time of the HP 1112 installation.

Can someone clear this up for me?

Thank you.

Your printer software:

HP DeskJet 1110 series Full Feature Software and Drivers

After software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Not sure about "HP Photo Management Software" - some of the old programs are not around any longer and have been replaced with the advent of the new printers and the new printing software that goes with the new hardware.

From the extensive list of documents in

How to > topic Print > subject list Instructions & Settings

How to Print Photos (Windows)

Once the printer software is installed (and from what you say, you have already done this), you should be able to open standard ".jpg" files using programs like Paint (mspaint) and Windows Photo Viewer.  The printing from these programs is somewhat primitive; the files should at least open and you can (should be able to) print from them.

The following nice photo / image and project software works along side of the Full Feature Software and should run in Windows 7.  HP Photo Creations is easy to use and supports several types of photo printing, including "more than one photo" on a paper (called "Multi-Up).  There are help files and even a support staff to help make sure your printing is a success.  Simple photo editing is included in the free version that you download and install on your computer.

Download, Save, and install:

HP Photo Creations

After the software is installed:

Windows 8 through Windows 10

Click Start (windows key) > all apps > scroll the list

Open Category HP

Find the HP Photo Creations application

Right-Click on the application and PIN to Start
