My printer used to grab cardstock paper easily and I was able to print beautiful cards.

All of a sudden, it won't grab the cardstock. And when it does, it starts the print job too late, so ink ends up somewhere in the printer, not on the actual card.

I don't know what happened! It was working fine!

Has someone else had this problem?

Mine worked perfectly, and then, no more. I'm using exact same paper, exact same program for the cards. Please help.

@CrazeeLupz, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Are you using a Win PC or a MAC?
  • What size cardstock paper are you using?
  • Refer to this document to know how to correctly load the media.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Hello! I cleaned the insides of my 5-year-old printer, including the rollers and paper-grabber-circle-thingies. I watched a video on YouTube. It seems to have worked, because I've had no issues since!

To answer your questions, I'm using a 110 weight cardstock, and solely using my Android phone.

Brand: Coolpad

Model: Legacy

Carrier: metroPCS

I've never heard of them either, but it was a metroPCS offer I couldn't refuse, and 2 years later, still works superbly.

I've downloaded the necessary hp apps on my phone, and I've never had problems with printing, until recently. But I guess it was pretty dirty, cuz now it works (so far)!

Glad to know that the issue is now resolved. Dirty rollers/paper sensors can cause such issues. Feel free to contact us with any concerns related to HP products.

Happy to help!
