HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This problem occurred a few weeks back. The cartridges were changed, and it was fine- for a few days anyway! Th printer was checked for paper blockages- there are none. The printer was reset, and checked again. It started to check itself, a couple of small  "bang"s on the right hand side, then the carriage goes all the way over to the left, and the fault occurs again! ,  However, the carriage is not suck, and can be moved manually, without any effort- is this a cartridge fault, or a driver error??

Hi @DeneP23,

 Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer is experiencing carriage jams, there are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer cover and carefully remove any paper or debris that may be causing the jam.
  3. Check for any obstructions in the carriage path, such as small pieces of torn paper or foreign objects, and remove them if necessary.
  4. Move the carriage to the right and then back to the left to make sure it moves freely along the carriage path.
  5. Make sure that the cartridges are installed correctly and that they are not blocking the carriage path.
  6. Clean the rollers and the carriage path with a lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris.
  7. Close the printer cover and plug the printer back in.
  8. Turn the printer on and see if the issue has been resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
