Hi @Swalker0610,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e's carriage is stuck and won't move, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check for Obstructions

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer's access door.
  • Look for any paper jams, debris, or foreign objects that might be blocking the carriage.
  • Gently remove any obstructions without damaging the components.

Manually Move the Carriage

  • With the printer unplugged, gently try to move the carriage to the center.
    • Avoid forcing it, as this might damage the mechanism.
  • If it's stuck, check the area to the right where the carriage is parked for obstructions or dried ink buildup.

Perform a Power Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the carriage can now move during startup.

Lubricate the Carriage Path

  • If the carriage is not moving smoothly, there might be dirt or dried ink on the rails.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the metal carriage rod.
  • Avoid lubricants unless specifically recommended by HP.

Reset the Printer

  • If the problem persists, perform a full reset:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Wait 5-10 minutes.
    3. Plug it back in and power it on.

Update Firmware

  • If the carriage isn't stuck due to a physical issue, it might be a firmware glitch.
  • Ensure the printer's firmware is up to date by checking for updates via the HP Smart app or HP's support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
