I have an HP Officejet 4630 all in one wireless printer. It is already registered and seems to be setup for email printing.
I now want to register it to a different HP Connect account and change the email address of the printer.
Can anyone advise me how to do this?
I tried and it seems that to do this I need a 'claim code'. It says if the printer already has an email address the claim code is supposed to be the start of the email address before the @ but I've tried this and it doesn't work, so I can't go any further, register it to the new HP Connect account or enable email printing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hello @JY01,
Try resetting the printing system once. Follow the steps below:
• Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
• Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
• Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
• Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
• Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
• Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
• Click the “Add button” (+).
• Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
• Click “Print Using...” or "Use", and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
Now go to http://hp.care/2bJdz2J and follow the steps under "Printing in Color, Grayscale or Black in only".
Let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Thanks & have a great day 🙂

Hi There - thanks for replying. Just to explain, this is not a brand new printer, and the person who used it before seems to have already setup an email address (which I have tried to use to print and it does not work) - and I assume connected it to their Hp account.
Now I am using it I would like to connect it to my new HP Connected account and give it an email address that I can remember and which works, but as it is not new I can't understand how to generate a claim code.
Thanks for your help.
p.s. I also want to find a way to print to greyscale or using the black ink only for printing draft and unimportant documents which dont require full colour but can't find a setting for this. When I tried to find further settings by opening the printer's menu in a webpage I was asked for authentication, but again I don't have these details and there's no obvious way to request new user logins or reset the authentication.
I would be really grateful for any steps I can take to get the printer setup!

Hello @JY01,
Thanks for the update.
You can generate a new email address by disabling and then enabling the web services. Follow the steps below:
-
On your printer control panel, touch or press the HP ePrint icon or button, and then touch or press Settings.
If your printer control panel does not have an icon or button, navigate to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings to open the Web Services menu, depending on your printer model.
-
Select Turn Off, Disable, or Remove, depending on your printer model.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to turn off Web Services.
-
Check detailed instructions here: http://hp.care/2d79PwA
Once done, restart your printer and then enable the web services to get new email address / claim code.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Thank you so much - this was a very quick and easy solution, allowing me to reset the email address and therefore generate a new claim code and connect it to my new HP Connected account.
May I ask if you know of a way to also reset the authentication settings which I am prompted to enter once I open the printer webpage? ( I am on a Mac running El Capitain, so there are very few settings on the print option, until I go into the further settings available in the webpage).
The main reason I am digging around in these settings is to figure out if I can change printing to black and white or greyscale, though I am sure I will need access in future for other changes, so if you know the solution to this it would be much appreciated.
Thanks again for your quick and helpful response!

Hello @JY01,
Glad to know that the HP ePrint issue is fixed. I also understand that you need to change the print settings to print in Black & White only.
Let’s try changing the printing preferences:
- Go to control panel – Devices and printers – Give a right click on Officejet 4630 (Select the printer entry and not the "fax" entry) and select printing preferences.
- Go to “Paper / quality” tab and make sure “Black & White” / "Grayscale"option is selected.
- Now click on “Advanced” button - check for “Print in grayscale” option. Make sure it is turned on. Apply and save the settings.
That should make the printer print in grayscale only.
Now coming to the printer web page asking for password issue. You need to completely reset the printer to disable this. This will remove any settings that you have changed so far. If you need to do this, I am sending you a private message with instructions. Click on the mail box icon on the top-right corner to access your inbox.
Let me know if those steps worked for you. If they did, that’s awesome! Give us some reinforcement by clicking the Solution and Kudos buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers! Good Luck!

Thanks again for the help - when you say control panel I wonder if you are sharing the Windows instructions here, I'm on a Mac running El Capitain. If I go to the printer within the system preferences I can't follow the instructions above as the options are a little different.
Is there a different pathway to this on a Mac OS? Thanks!
