Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

A couple of days ago the print dialog box on Safari changed and I began getting this error when trying to print double-sided.  I have searched for a duplex setting that might be conflicting with the Double-Sided Default setting that I've always used, but I can't find anything.  Any ideas?

 

Changing the setting of Two-Sided to Long-Edge Binding would cause a conflict that cannot be resolved. No change will be made.

My printer is an HP LaserJet P4014 dn.  

 

I have found that I can print double-sided successfully to this LaserJet from Chrome but not from Safari.

I can print double-sided successfully from Safari to an Epson printer. 

It seems that my new Ventura OS is not playing nicely with HP.  

Apple says it's because HP hasn't updated their driver.  It's an old printer, and I wonder if they aren't going to update it.  

HP won't talk to me at all unless I pay.  

 

It's all very aggravating.
