“Clear Paper Jam” error yet there is no Jam. The printer is making an odd clunk sound when first turned on like the cartridge track it off or something. Would appreciate some input.

Hi @cod14,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Photosmart e-All-in-One Printer might be having an issue with its paper path sensors or internal mechanics. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the "Clear Paper Jam" error.

Check for Paper Fragments:

  • Even if there doesn't appear to be a jam, small bits of paper can cause issues. Carefully inspect the paper path, including the input and output trays, and inside the printer for any fragments.

Inspect the Cartridges:

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Sometimes, an issue with the cartridges can trigger a paper jam error.

Verify Paper Path Rollers:

  • Look at the rollers inside the printer. They should be clean and free of any obstructions. If they appear dirty or worn, clean them gently with a lint-free cloth and some distilled water.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

Check the Print Head:

  • Ensure that the print head is not obstructed or stuck. If you hear a clunking noise, it could be related to the print head's movement. Make sure it moves freely and is not misaligned.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Many HP printers have a built-in diagnostic tool. Check the printer's menu or software for any diagnostic options and run them to identify potential issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
