Hi @NickEegz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you're facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 9020e printer displaying a "Close Tray 2" error message even though Tray 2 is closed and you've tried various troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if you can't see any visible obstructions, there might be a small piece of paper stuck in the paper path. Carefully check for paper jams in and around Tray 2.
  • Clean the Tray and Sensors: Dust and debris can sometimes interfere with the sensors that detect whether the tray is closed. Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean the tray and the area around it. Be gentle to avoid damaging any components.
  • Inspect the Tray for Damage: Carefully inspect Tray 2 for any physical damage, such as broken tabs or misaligned parts. If you find any, you may need to replace the tray.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset any internal sensors or error messages.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings, so you'll need to set up the printer again. The exact process for a factory reset can vary depending on the model, so consult your printer's user manual or HP's support website for specific instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,
Tried all of your suggestions and still not working. Can't see any issues with it at all other than the error message coming up.
Any other suggestions?
