Close tray message will not go away. Restarted the printer multiple times. Pulled out tray but there is nothing blocking it and no paper jams and the tray is closing but the message will not go away. Please help! I can't print anything.

Probably a broken tab on the paper tray. Check the paper tray from the bottom side there should be 2 tabs, if one is broken, fold a piece of paper and insert it in the hole in the printer ( instead of the missing tab).

The printer will then know that the tray is closed.Valsimot_0-1646303166963.png

And another example, check if any of these 2 are broken off.

Thank you so much! You were right my husband slammed it so hard he broke the tab on the back. I attached a picture. Is there anyway to buy a new tray or repair this without having to buy a whole new printer. 😞 IMG_1401.jpg

Just fold a piece of paper and insert it in the hole inside the printer where the broken ( missing)  piece should go and the printer will know that tray is inserted.
