Color LaserJet Pro MFP-M281fdw shows 49 Service Error after firmware update from 20th October

Ich sitze hier in Deutschland vor dem gleichen Problem. Hier wird ebenfalls an die nicht mehr vorhandene Garantie verwiesen.

nun habe ich mir nun einen Gebrauchten Drucker gekauft und werde dort meine Toner leeren, sind neue 203X verbaut und dann kommt der Drucker weg. mit viel Glück kann ich diesen dann ohne verlust verkaufen. HP ist für mich erledigt. Ich werde bereits hier und auf Whatsapp Ignoriert. An einer Lösung ist man wohl nicht interessiert.

I tried removing the wireless board. It does seem to delay the boot sequence further with the pop-up menu (see picture), but if you wait long enough the 49 error code comes up and the formatter board reboots. I may try to see if you have enough time to push a firmware image to the printer, but I doubt it.

For completeness, I tried soldering in some 2-pin headers (I didn't have the right pitch size headers on hand, but they were close enough for testing.)

No combination of shorting either or both Debug and FW_Upgrade headers seems made a difference in the boot sequence or the continual rebooting because of the 49 error code. Nor did it work forcing a firmware upload with a USB memory stick inserted.

I suspect those headers aren't probably used in the firmware build released publicly.

Also experiencing the same thing since the firmware upgrade.  Come one HP fix this!

I have the same issue.

I wonder how many of the M281 models do have this problem. Is there someone with MFP M281xxx printer who has the 20221020 firmware and does not have this issue?

Is there actually someone here whose printer is still stuck on error 79? Because error 49 only seems to come when the Vram is reset. As long as the error 79 was still with me I could uploud the Firmware again. Itried that the first. But here one has the predecessor firmware. Maybe we should make a public post on Facebook or Instagramm, public pressur and criticism sometimes works wonder.

Hi, my printer is also affected.
Now a new "old" firmware is offered on the support page of HP: M280_Series_FW_Update-20220414
But no reference to the previous version 20221010 or instructions on how to fix the error.
