Hi Repairatrooper, you mentioned an HP guy reached out to you on the 3rd. It’s 5 days later now with no message whatsover. Are they ignoring us?

@Repairatrooper, I'm happy to send my bad formatter board to anyone at HP if they want to look at it (and even help with debugging.) However, I'm sure the issue is 100% reproducible on any M281 printer using the firmware image they recently pulled.

Same here. I’ve saved my original board in case it is needed for warranty or proof of the issue yet would be happy to send in to HP if it helps with creating a solution.

I now have a bricked M281 in my possession so I can have a look at the situation more closely.

Here's what I can tell you from my view:

- Twitter support won't acknowledge anything with this printer, finally said it looks like i have an open case, sent me there

- Phone support was pretty worthless, had me try some resets not otherwise mentioned, agreed to replace the printer but then realized I only had a phone support care pack, bosses wouldn't let them

- Supervisor gave me same song and dance, assured me that HP firmware is heavily tested and this is an isolated incident, there are long amounts of silence when I reference this thread.  Sent me to case manager

- Case manager called me friday after hours, we touched base yesterday *Monday* morning.

....HP heavily tests firmware, this is an isolated incident

....I only have phone support, printer is out of warranty

......she does not know what a formatter board is and can't authorize replacment

.......she is supposedly trying to request a new printer be sent to me anyway (no word back yet either)

..........very focused on initial purchase date and warranty only

............she said very in passing they were aware of issues with this printer but wouldn't elaborate further.

So far I have not heard back from the case manager.

I have a nice heavy AIO holding the floor tile down though.  I'm thinking about "going office space" on it but holding on to it incase anybody wants it or HP asks for it back in the event they agree to send a new printer.

Anyone looking for a replacement  board - the vendor we used still has at least one;

what a shame HP isn't involved fixing their own negligence.

BTW - our seller has 100% positive feedback, which is always a great sign

Were you really told "....HP heavily tests firmware, this is an isolated incident" ?
You can tell them from me that that's a patent load of horse**bleep**. It's obvious even to the meanest intelligence that this has affected owners of this printer from around the globe.
In this thread alone I've seen posts from people in USA, France, Germany, Netherlands, and I'm in Australia. This is as endemic as bloody Covid.
And I for one am becoming increasingly furious at their lack of service. If I could afford to get another printer I would. But I can't. This is their mistake. They need to **bleep** well take responsibility for it.
