My color pictures always print dark.  I have adjusted the picture quality in my laptop but they always print dark.  I find no place within my printer software the allows me to similarly adjust the print quality.  Any suggestions?

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

If the copy is not printing fine, this could be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

Welcome to HP support community.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page

  1. Load paper into the input tray.

  2. Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.

The HP Printer Assistant software opens.

  3. On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.

  4. Click the Device Services tab, and then click Print Quality Diagnostics Page ().

If that does not print fine, check for ink smears on the back of printouts

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

  2. Load paper into the input tray.

  3. Press and hold the Power button, press the Cancel button (three times, press the Start Copy Color button (eight times, and then release the Power button.

The printer feeds one page slowly. The printer might make some noise for approximately one minute.

  4. Wait until the page is out of the printer before you remove it.

  5. Examine the test page.

Your answer did not work.  Too much time talking about cleaning ink cartridges and using proper paper.  All I want to do is lighten dark places in my printed color photographs, which my HP DeskJet 3632 is unable to do.
