Two weeks ago I noted my printer would not turn on. It typically automatically turns on whenever I print something through my wireless network. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and once again hit the power button to no avail. I found an old post on this site that someone had replaced the power cord and then it worked, and then they subsequently found that the old power cord worked. I tried unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in and then the printer would power up. Everything was working fine for about two weeks and then this morning once again the printer won’t turn on. This time, however, fiddling with the power cord doesn’t seem to do anything. Has anyone else had this problem, and it is this likely something that will require replacement or sending it in for service?

I suggest you try a different power cord and also make sure you are plugging directly into the wall and not into a surge protector. May also be a failing power supply.

I already tried those two things unfortunately. The power supply is a brand new APC battery backup power supply and everything else on it does not appear to have a problem. I wonder if it’s an internal fuse or something.

You cannot plug a printer into a UPS or surge protector. These devices are designed to limit damage when a high current draw is detected. Laser printers draw a high current when they start printing and is the reason you cannot plug a laser printer into them and expect reliable operation. You need to plug the printer directly into the wall.
