Color print counts are a lot higher than actual usage. Why does this occur? When we do print [not often], we always select black and white.

Thanks!

Please check to see Does your printer has option to use Black Ink Only ?

As we know: mixing 3 prime colors together at a right amount will give us full color spectrum from white to black (around 16 million colors and more). Asking printer to print B&W or Grey scale means telling it to mix colors together to print therefore you need option to print Black Ink Only.

That why printer consumes color inks when we only print B&W.

Regards.

I do use "black ink only" on PC . MAC is black and white - have not found "black ink only" option. We did figure out that "grey scale" was adding to color count a few months ago, but still have high color. May be due to the "black and white", but HP indicates "black and white" only uses black [see below]. Not so sure based on color count...

Thanks for your help!
