My HP 5540 is printing fine with a Windows 7 notebook and with an Android device.
Then I changed notebook, Windows 10 and it worked fine for a few days.
Suddenly the option to print in color doesn't show up any more.
Any file I try to print (photos, documents...) is shown in gray scale in the print preview and it is printed in grey color. The option to select "Color printing" doesn't exist anymore.
Printer has been unistalled and re-installed with latest drivers. No changes: I am still not able to select "Color Printing" option.
With Android and Windows 7 I am still able to print in color.
I always use original HP cartridges and they are currently almost full (changed few prints ago). No cartridge error is displayed.
The complete non sense of this problem is that I can print in color when I plug by USB the computer to the printer, whereas it is in gray scale when it is in Wi-Fi direct.
What's wrong with my printer? Is it a Windows 10 setting?

Thanks for the detailed procedure, which doesn't work unfortunately.
This problem is apparently taking place quinte often, when windows updates mess up some configuration.
Eventually I solved my problem by re-installing the 2015 software and driver by the CD included with the printer.
It works fine now!
