OK. I've always had problems with this printer, like the previous one, turning itself off, then bad colour printing, and want to uninstall it and start again.
However, for some strange reason, it no longer appears in Programs and Features (no HP products do), so how do I get rid of it completely?. I say completely as (i) Print and Scan Doctor still thinks I also have my previous Officejet and (ii) previous uninstalls have never removed the HP stuff from the programs list that comes up if you click on the Windows icon

Hi @Tombar1
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "uninstall printer driver" issue.
Try the steps below to uninstall the drivers-
uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

If there are no HP Drivers is found in the Programs and features skip the particular step and try the next one.
Once all the steps are performed we can try and install the drivers again from Software and Driver Downloads
Keep me posted!

It's printing after a fashion.
1 A test page after cleaning the printhead gives a good print out,
2 Using HP Print and Scan Doctor, it says everything is OK, but then refuses to print out and clicking on No Print simply freezes the programme
3. Printing webpages gives all sorts of weird horizontal stripes where grey is red. This has been happening for months now ( 3 stages of print head cleaning seems to work sometimes, then it reverts to stripes

Yes, though this time the lines are narrower and dark regardless of what the underlying colour is
A lot of this is covered in the post "HP Office jet Pro 6960 keeps turning off"
