HP Envy 7858 All-In-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I posted this question in the wrong place I think, so..

Reposting here...

Bought an Envy 7858, set it up and connected it via wo-fi.

My desktop is hardwired directly to the router via ethernet cable, no wi-fi.

I downloaded the "Easy Start" software and installed it, but it cannot connect my PC to the printer. It can find it, and identify it no problem, but cannot connect to it to print to it.

I am wondering if this is a sharing problem between my Desktop and the printer?

Is there a way to be able to use this printer with my PC even though the PC is on ethernet and the printer is set up via wi-fi?

I mean they both go to the router through different methods so this should work right?

Kinda lost...

Didnt help. I dont think you understood the question....

The printer is NOT on an ethernet cable, it is wi-fi only.

Only the my desktop PC is linked to the router by ethernet cable. The desktop DOES NOT HAVE WI-FI.

My desktop can SEE the printer, it can identify the printer, but it cannot connect to the printer, probably because my PC is connected to the router by ethernet cable, and the printer is connected to the router via wi-fi?

I was told that if the PC can SEE the printer, and identify it, there should be a way of printing from my PC, even though the printer is connected to the router by wi-fi, and the PC is connected by ethernet cable..

Thank you for replying,

I understand your concerns, Yes definetly this type of connection will work, however both printer and PC should be on same network.

Don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you resolve this issue;

Test the wireless connection

Print the wireless test report for information about the printer wireless connection. The wireless test report
provides information about the printer status, hardware (MAC) address, and IP address. If there is a problem
with the wireless connection or if a wireless connection attempt failed, the wireless test report also provides diagnostic information. If the printer is connected to a network, the test report displays details about the
network settings.

To print the wireless test report
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the
Dashboard, touch (the Wireless button), and then touch ( Settings ).
2. Touch Print Reports.
3. Touch Wireless Test Report.

If the wireless test is pass kindly enter the IP address of the printer in any of the browser & check if that opens printer webpage & try to print .

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

Thank You,

Printed out the wireless test report, typed the reported IP address into my browser, did NOT bring up the printer page, only brought up a list of IP address identifier sites.....
