HP ENVY PRO 6430
When powering-on the printer doesn't connect to the Wi-fi.
Instead the 'i' button is flashing amber and the printer is also flashing 'E' & 'O' (or possibly '0') alternatively in white.
HP are still taking my payments but haven't sent any new ink cartridges for a while.

Hi @SimonW123,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I’m here to help you resolve both the Wi-Fi connection issue and the Instant Ink subscription concern with your HP ENVY Pro 6430 All-in-One Printer. The amber flashing ‘i and alternating ‘E’ and ‘0’ usually indicate the printer is either not connected to Wi-Fi or is in an error state.
✅ Step-by-Step Fix: Reset Wi-Fi and Reconnect
Step 1: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode on Printer
- Power ON the printer.
- Press and hold the Wireless (📶) button and Cancel (✖) button together for 5 seconds.
- The Wi-Fi light should begin blinking — this means it is in Wi-Fi Setup Mode.
This mode allows the HP Smart app to detect the printer for reconnection.
Step 2: Use the HP Smart App to Reconnect
- Install the 🔗 HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store on your Windows 10 device or smartphone.
- Open the app and click “Add Printer”.
- Follow the prompts to connect your printer to your home Wi-Fi (2.4GHz network preferred).
- Complete the setup until the printer shows as “Ready.”
Optional: Reinstall Printer Driver (if needed)
If the above doesn’t resolve, it:
- Download the full printer software here:

I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

The printer is now connected to the Network but is still flashing 'E' and 'O' alternatively and the 'i' button is flashing too.
I can scan a document to my laptop using HP-scan.
Why am I still getting the error?
