I have to constantly clean the printheads.  I have never had clean heads as often as I do with this printer, wasting a lot of time and ink.  I am using HP cartridges and high quality paper.  Do I have a bum printer or is this a trait of this printer?

Printer is new

HP Ink Cartridges are new

The ink is not cheap, and I cannot believe I have to clean the printheads EVERY TIME I want to print.  This is not acceptable.

It's been my experience that paper choice with inkjets in critical, depending on what your final print is used for. Framed photos? Flyers to hand out? Artprints? For any inkjet printer, using a 'coated' paper lets the ink sit on the coating and not be absorbed into the paper fibers, which happens when using simple copier paper. Uncoated paper is loosly 'woven' and will produce 'dust' which can clog printheads, especially cheap 20lb copier paper. HP, Hammerhill make good regular use 'coated' papers, for inkjets, in several lighter weights. Coated papers have a smoother feel and you can see a difference in the paper surfaces when comparing coated and non-coated paper.   If you are using a inkjet photo grade paper, I suggest contating HP Support if printhead clogging happens with any paper grade.
