HP Photosmart 8450
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What number printer cartridges that are currently available can I use in my HP Photosmart 8450?  It has in it 96, 97 and 99 right now.

The HP 95 cartridge is a smaller, less expensive, less ink version of the HP 97, the HP 94 is a smaller version of the HP 96.  The printers that accept the 96/97 cartridges will typically also accept the 94 and 95 cartridges.

Without the photo cartridge installed the color cartridge will be used when printing on photo paper.  The print quality for photo's will be slightly less, with perhaps more grainy prints.  This might be seen in light areas such as some skin tones or pictures of sky.  Most likely you would not notice the difference unless you had prints side by side with and without the photo cartridge.

If you are from the US then all cartridges are available online from HP.

Just use your printer model Photosmart 8450 in a search field

What is your country?  The cartridges are different depending on your region.  If you are in the US/Canada the 96 and 97 cartridges should still be available.  The 94 and 95 cartrdiges should also be accepted in the Hpotosmart 8450.   I do not beleive the HP 99 cartridge is still being produced.  Your Photosmart 8450 can be operated with the photo cartridge removed.

I am in the US.  Thanks for your reply, Bob.   What is the consequence, if any, of printing photos with the photo cartridge removed?  I want to use the printer to print photos.  You are correct that the HP 99 is no longer produced.  So you're saying I can work the printer with 94 and 95, or with 96 and 97?  Thanks so much.
