Have been using this printer for >10 years, now on 2d MAC. On Sat. eve, 10/23/20, tried to print and keep getting this error message (same one as many others received on same day): "One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software." I have reinstalled three times now and still no solution! I am handicapped without a printer! Suspicious since I just saw that so many others experienced same problem on the same day. What the heck???

The solution is to download (and install) this package which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...
If the link comes up blank, try right clicking and saving it. If you install this package and still have trouble, try uninstalling your printer and reinstalling.
Easy Admin did nothing. Easy Startup did nothing. 5.1 drivers did nothing. This worked for me!
If this solved your issue, please thumbs up and mark as solved!

Try this new set/order I updated yesterday:
Use the HP Uninstaller: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02440673
If you still have a folder marked HP, delete it (likely in your "Libraries" folder(s).
Use Easy Start (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-easy-start/7376041 - make sure your OS is correct) and see if your printer is supported. If not, move on to the next steps.
Uninstall your printer USING THIS METHOD ONLY (NOT EASY START, NOT EASY ADMIN): Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. Then restart your computer.
Download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen... If the link comes up blank, try right/control clicking and saving it. Or right/control click and copy link, and paste into browser bar. If you get the malware warning part-way through the installation, go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy where you can tick a box and unblock the HP option.
The install takes a bit. Let it run, even if it seems like it stalled out! When it completes, restart.
Then reinstall your printer using: Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners, and use the default drivers. If drivers do not show up, download and install the 5.1 driver package from here: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US . Then restart your computer.

I was able to uninstall my printer.
The next step (the link you provided for Easy Start, does nothing but show me a blank screen when I try to search for my operating system.
I believe this problem occurred to several people on 10/23/20 because HP is no longer supporting these older printers whose warranty has expired, and/or it occurred following an update to the MAC Catalina operating system or HP is no longer supporting this OS. At this point I suppose I have to purchase a new printer and most likely it will not be an HP.
Thank you for trying to assist me with my problem.

Try it in a different browser?
Also, check Preferences>Security & Privacy and see if you can unblock HP.
Was the file downloaded and you got the error when running? Or did the error occur during the download?
