Cyan colour does not print on HP Tango. Issue persists even after troubleshooting; changed cartridge, cleaned printer (all 3 levels) and ran diagnostics, unplug and reset etc.  Running on latest Mac OS and driver. Nothing fixes the issue.

Hi @Pix-B,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken several steps to troubleshoot the issue with the cyan color not printing on your HP Tango printer. Since the problem persists despite your efforts, here are some additional steps you can try:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure that the cyan ink cartridge has sufficient ink levels. You can check this through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.

2. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  • Print a print quality diagnostic page from the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app. This page can help identify any specific issues with the cyan color.

3. Clean Printhead Manually

  • If the cyan color is still not printing properly, you can try manually cleaning the printhead:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Open the printer's access door to access the printhead.
    3. Moisten a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled water.
    4. Gently wipe the printhead surface and surrounding areas to remove any dried ink or debris.
    5. Allow the printhead to dry completely before closing the access door and turning the printer back on.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your HP Tango printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP Support website.

5. Perform a Factory Reset

  • Perform a factory reset on your HP Tango printer to reset all settings to their defaults. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

hi Rachel,

I already did the steps you suggested, all 5! but the problem persists, that is why I posted my query. Seems like there's a fault with the printer. Very disappointing because it is not very old at all. A very expensive printer to break down so easily.

Also, I see many people posting about the same issue... a sign that it is indeed a printer fault! HP should replace the printer head (or other parts if necessary) in this case! HP Tango is a premium-priced product that no longer works after a relatively short period of time and HP offer no solution to fix it. Plus very annoying that there's no 'live agent' to speak with to get quality help, these messaging systems are pointless.

Hi! I've been having the same issue with mine. I've gone through so much paper and ink repeatedly running through all the diagnostics and trying to get things to print. It's beyond frustrating. Did you ever reach out or have any luck getting it resolved?

HP Recommended

No. Contacting HP support has been a waste of time, they just sent me obvious troubleshooting tips (which I've done already) and because I'm no longer under warranty, only thing they suggest is call the UK helpline (which is not available). Never got any quality help basically. The printer has brand new colour ink cartridge (changed it twice) but does not print cyan at all, it  only prints in black and white now. It is a printer fault for sure, I've seen many issues raised about 'cyan not printing'. HP Tango has a fault with this, it's premium price, yet you can't get any help. I can bin the printer now after 3 years and hardly any usage.

HP directs you to buy 'Technical Support' for £21.49. It's a joke...
