I have had my HP Photosmart D110a printer for about 6 years and a few days ago it just abruptly stopped printing. When I send a job to print or try to print a test page it does not start the printing process by moving the carriage. When I try to cancel it freezes with the red 'X" and the power light blinking forever. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

@SCG1998
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's try to reset the Printer here:
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.
Also, try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Hi Betty0610,
Thanks very much for the reply. I've tried all of those things before and none has worked. I even accessed the printer's internal support menu and did a reset from there, but still didn't work. Could it be a problem with the printer's internal PCB board?

Hi Betty0610,
The image above is a list of the most recent error events from the printer. They were accessed from the printer's web interface.
Could you please let me know what these codes mean?
Thanks.

Hi Betty0610,
The scanning function works well on the printer, but the printing process sticks as soon as it starts. Therefore the printer cannot complete the entire copy function.
Is this a hardware issue? Faulty ribbon cable? PCB board? Other faulty hardware component? What do the error codes mean?
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hi Betty 0610,
I tried all of the steps you outlined but it did not work.
The printer is doing the same as before, sticking as soon as it starts to print. Please have a look at the picture below to see what I mean. The red 'X' stays lit as shown and the ink carriage sticks over on the right hand side of the printer and nothing is printed. I suspect that this is a hardware error and not software related. Looking forward to hearing back from you very soon.
Thanks.
