Some scam popped up and ever since I can't get D4300 print correct. Ran Malwarebytes, Avast full scan, Trend micro quick scan. Used the HP Print & Scan Doctor but after reboots, the problem returns. Other system printer not affected. Anyone else see this and found afix?

Thanks for your suggestions. I can confirm that the printer tests fine. I even attached it to my laptop and it created perfect output. When I put it back on my desktop, I get corrupted colors or in one case only one line of text from a page full. I used the HP Print & Scan doctor multiple times but could not correct some of these errors. I reinstalled the latetest printer drivers I can could find at HP. I ran sfc on windows, cleaned the registry, and ran multiple virus scans (nothing found). I can't pinpoint it but I am convinced this was caused by malware that was introduced on a pop up flash warning about calling MS Support and only after that did my D4300 start misbehaving. At the present I think I have my printer back to proper operation. I spent a lot time, lots of reboots but can't tell you what exactly fixed the problem. I ran a Hijackthis and reviewed the log but my Windows chops are a bit rusty (been on Mac now for 5 years) so I couldn't pinpoint anything in the log but there are probably problems in that. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi @Sjryan01,
Welcome to the HP Forums! 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand that you are having printing issues with your printer.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details.
Are you printing using Windows OS or Mac OS?
Do you get any error message related to the ink cartridges?
Any light blinking on the printer?
Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridges?
This could be a hardware/ software or a print quality issue, please follow the below steps.
Step 1: Reset the printer.
- In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can fix the issue.
- Turn on the printer.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
- If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
- Try to print.
If the issue persists refer to this article to further troubleshoot the print quality issue.
Keep me posted with the outcome of the troubleshooting and with the required information.
