Hello. I have a HP Envy 4527. A couple of days ago I changed the black ink cartridge and since then, it will not print from any iPhone device. It was fine before. I have rebooted, put to factory settings and inputted the wifi network, to no avail.
Having run a Web Access Test, it says:
’X DNS/Gateway Problem. The printer could not connect to the server. Contact the person who set up the printer.’
Can anyone assist me please with how to get this rectified?
thank you.

Hi @JayT6
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand how frustrating this must be, especially since your printer was working fine before the cartridge change. Let's go through some HP-specific troubleshooting steps to resolve the DNS/Gateway Problem on your HP Envy 4527.
1. Restart Your Network Devices
- Power off your router, printer, and iPhone.
- Wait 2-3 minutes, then turn on the router first.
- Once the router is fully online, turn on the printer and iPhone.
2. Assign a Manual IP Address & DNS
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup → Network Settings → Advanced Settings.
- Select Manual IP Address and enter:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.200 (or similar, depending on your network)
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway: Your router’s IP (e.g., 192.168.1.1)
- Set Manual DNS Servers:
- Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
3. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit the HP Support page for your HP Envy 4527.
- Download and install the latest firmware update.
4. Disable IPv6
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings.
- Locate IPv6 and disable it.
5. Reset Network Settings
- On the printer, go to Setup → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi and test printing.
6. Test with a Different Device
- Try printing from a Windows PC or Android device to see if the issue is specific to iPhones.
Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to assist further! I appreciate your patience while we work through this.
