From time to time when I send a document to be printed it takes up to 10 minutes for it to print.  And after it actually prints it I get an error message that says:

Printer Error MessagePrinter Error Message

It doesn't happen all of the time, just intermittent.  I have already tried this selection but it didn't help.  I've tried running the HP Print/Scan Doctor and it comes back saying there isn't any problem.   I'm elderly but still working, so I'm wondering if it's time to get a new printer/scanner as this one is almost 6 years old.  Any suggestions that I will be able to understand and execute?

HI @Bridgemaster,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent delays and error messages when printing wirelessly to your HP Officejet 4655 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

Check Wireless Signal Strength: Ensure that your printer has a strong wireless signal from your Wi-Fi network. If the signal is weak or intermittent, it can cause delays in printing. You may need to move the printer closer to your router or consider using a Wi-Fi range extender.

Restart Printer and Router: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your printer and your Wi-Fi router can resolve wireless connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes improve performance and resolve connectivity issues.

Check for Interference: Make sure there are no sources of interference near your printer that could disrupt the wireless signal, such as cordless phones, microwave ovens, or other electronic devices.

Use a Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your printer to ensure that it maintains a consistent connection to your Wi-Fi network. You can usually do this through your router's settings or the printer's network configuration menu.

Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the drivers from the HP website or use HP Smart to automatically update them.

Try Printing from Another Device: If possible, try printing from a different device (such as a smartphone or tablet) to see if the issue is specific to one device or network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel,

First of all, thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my dilemma.  This printer is beyond support and there are no firmware updates that haven't already been installed.  I have tried restarting the printer, the computer, and the router.  There's no interference as nothing has been added or moved in my office space for several years.  The signal should be strong as the printer is only a few steps behind the computer and even less distance from the router.

But I finally uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it.  Then it printed within a few seconds like it used to do.  Yay!!!
