I purchased HP canvas on rolls in order to print out large images on canvas.  I have tried several times to print and the printer jams every time - the printer heads get caught.  Anyone have a fix for this???

Media type "canvas" may not be supported.

  • Check the gsm / mil thickness of the product you are trying to use.
  • Look for a compatible Media type in the print setup for the job.

Datasheet shows Media weights supported:

Media Handling Sheet feed, roll feed, input tray, automatic cutter

Weight 60 to 280 g/m² (roll/manual feed); 60 to 220 g/m² (input tray)

Size Rolls: 279 to 610 mm (11 to 24 in)

Sheets: 210 x 279 to 610 x 1897 mm (8.3 x 11 to 24 x 74.7 in)

Standard sheets: A4, A3, A2, A1 (A, B, C, D)

Thickness Up to 11.8 mil

HP DesignJet T120 24-in Printer > Specs provide the Media types supported:

Media types

Bond and coated paper (bond, coated, heavyweight coated, recycled, plain, bright white), technical paper (natural tracing, vellum), film (clear, matte), photographic paper (satin, gloss, semigloss, premium, polypropylene), self-adhesive (adhesive, polypropylene)

I just printed on my T120 with the HP Canvas and it worked beautifully.  I set the paper on Heavyweight Coated and didn't have any problems.

Excellent -- frequently a "similar" Media type will be enough as long as the gsm (paper weight) is within the printer's capabilities.

Thanks for posting what worked for you.

I figured out that the automatic cutter was jamming it up every time.  Once I disabled the auto cutter, I was able to print on the canvas using the heavy coated paper setting. Thanks to all who offered advice.

Hi,

I was wondering what kind of canvas(on a roll)  you were able to print on with your T120? I've been just about ready to buy one, but am stymied because I primarily print on canvas and keep hearing that it doesnt work.

Thank you for your help!

I printed on HP Artist Matte Canvas.
