Microsoft Windows 11

I've seen a message or two similar to this, but they're all old and won't let me reply, so I don't know if anyone ever discovered a fix or not.

I just got a new computer because my old Windows 10 computer couldn't handle Windows 11.  I have a DeskJet 1512 that worked fine on the old computer with Windows 10, but hasn't worked correctly with the new computer.

I've had some luck printing when I set it to print a PDF using the black toner only, but whenever it try to print anything in color (or try to print something created in color in grayscale using only the black toner), it will either print the first few inches of the page and freeze or not print at all.  I've tried Word documents, web pages, images - everything has the same issue.  Even the test page will only print about halfway before freezing up and (after a moment) spitting the rest of the paper out with a message that there was an error printing.  (It isn't a hardware issue because scanning and copying in color work perfectly).

I've tried doing a hard reset on the printer (as described here in the forums) and reinstalling the latest drivers, but nothing works. I tried the HP Scan and Print Doctor, which resulted in the test page NOT PRINTING AT ALL and forcing me to reset and reinstall just to get back to where I got half of a test page.  I have even tried replacing the color ink cartridge, which made no change.

I'm at a loss.  To be honest, I've had the printer for quite a while, so if I have to replace it, it's already earned it's keep.  I'm just afraid that whatever strange issue is going on with this printer will continue if I try to get another one.

Does anyone have any ideas?
