HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer

Hi

My DeskJet 2722e is connnected to my mac via USB cable.

I normally print by pressing command + P

Since yesterday the printer appears as offline. I've tried re-installing the printer and nothing works. The only way I can print is via the HP Smart App.

Any ideas on how I can go back to printing with my usual mac settings?

Thanks

Hi @waronwaste,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2722e is showing as offline when you try to print from your Mac using the usual print command (Command + P), there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the USB cable connecting your printer to the Mac is securely plugged in.
  • Try using a different USB cable and USB port on your Mac.

Restart Printer and Mac:

  • Power off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  • Restart your Mac.

Printer Queue:

  • Open the "Printers & Scanners" settings on your Mac (System Preferences > Printers & Scanners).
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2722e from the list.
  • Check for any print jobs in the queue and cancel them.
  • Try printing again.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that there are no error messages or paper jams on the printer itself.
  • Make sure the printer is powered on and ready.

Reset Printing System:

  • In "Printers & Scanners," right-click (or Control-click) on the printer and choose "Reset printing system."
  • This will remove all printers from your list, and you'll need to add your HP DeskJet 2722e again.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Download and install the latest printer drivers from the official HP website.
  • Make sure to choose the correct drivers for your printer model and Mac OS version.

Update Software:

  • Ensure that your Mac's operating system is up to date.
  • Check for any updates to the HP Smart App.

Firewall/Antivirus:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your Mac and see if it resolves the issue.

Check System Preferences:

  • In "System Preferences," go to "Security & Privacy" > "Privacy" tab.
  • Make sure that the HP Smart App and other necessary apps have the required permissions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
