I recently changed my black ink cartridge and now the black ink will not print at all. It shows the cartridge is full and it is a brand new cartridge from the store. When I print, the paper will come out with only color ink. I have tried cleaning the print heads but to no avail. Can someone please help?

Try to reset the printer and check if that solves the problem.
1. Turn on the printer and open the cartridge access door.
2. Remove both the black and color cartridges from the printer and close the door.
3. Disconnect the power cord at the back of the printer.
4. Wait for 30 seconds and connect the power cable back to the printer.
5. If the printer does not turn on automatically, press the power button to turn it on.
6. Install the cartridges.
Now, try to print and check of the issue is resolved.

Hi, I just did as you instructed. It printed black when it was doing the alignment. But when i tried printing my actual documents, it still does not print in blac even though the cartridge is brandnew. Hope you can help me with this issue. Thanks.

To isolate the rootcause try performing a copy of a document from the control panel on the printer. Use a document that has both color and black text/graphics. If the copy prints fine in black, then the issue could be with driver settings or the software application.
Follow these steps to ensure Grayscale printing option is turned off in printer driver settings in computer:
1. Go to Control Panel and then devices and printers.
2. Right click on your printer icon and select Printing preferences
3. Click on the Advanced button.
4. Ensure the Print in Grayscale option is set to 'Off'.
5. Click on OK button.
Now try to print again and check if issue is resolved.

Did the copy from the control panel print fine in black?
I am not familiar with the MAC Operating System. However, I found the following forum link with the steps to make this setting in MAC.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
The option differs according to application and printer software
when you go File Print from any application.
Look for the option which is there on the above thread or You can look for preset and change it to Plain paper, Draft, black and white or Black and white.
If not available can you attach the screenshot of the Printer selection screen which has all settings.
Thanks
