Deskjet 2130. color ink light is flashing. Bought a new one and installed. Same light flashing.
I have an HP Spectre 360 laptop. Just installed drivers for the printer. Everything connected properly as far as I can see. Laptop is up to date with updates.
Disconnected all power. Waited 30 seconds. reconnected. Same flashing light.
Did the same thing again, but took cartridges out first. Both lights flashed. Installed black ink and flashing light for black went out.
Installed color cartridge, but light kept flashing.
The color ink cartridge was HP brand and correct 301 cartridge. SAme as old one.
What to do?

I don't think wrong cartridge. I bought an exact duplicate to the one in the printer. Installed. Still blinking.
New cartridge is to left of black cartridge. Also tried switching them but each only fits in its exact place.
Still blinking. About to turf this printer. Waste of a cartridge.

You can try these steps:
Step 1: Power Reset
- Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
- Turn the printer on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Check if the light still blinks
- If the issue persists, proceed to the next step
Step 2: Clean the ink cartridge contacts
- Gather the following materials:
- Dry foam rubber swabs, lint-free cloth, or any soft material that does not come apart or leave fibers (coffee filters work well)
- Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the cartridges)
- Press the Power button to turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
- Lower the output tray.
- Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Press down on the ink cartridge to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge out to remove it from its slot.
- Hold the ink cartridge by its sides.
-
Inspect the contacts for ink and debris buildup.
-
Wipe the contacts with a dry swab or other lint-free material until no debris remains on them.
-
Dip a clean foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth into distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.
-
Clean only the copper-colored contacts, and then allow the ink cartridge to dry for approximately 10 minutes.
-
Lightly moisten another foam-rubber swab with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from the swab.
-
Use the swab to clean the electrical contacts in the carriage, located inside the printer.
-
Clean the carriage contacts.
-
Wait for the ink cartridge to dry (approximately 10 minutes), or use a new swab to dry it.
-
Re-insert the ink cartridge.
-
Close the ink cartridge access door.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Reconnect the USB cable.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer if it does not turn on automatically.
-
Check if the light still blinks
Let me know if this works.
