My deskjet 2632 will only print in black & white from multiple iOS devices. Running a print quality diagnostic prints colour correctly, but as soon as I preview a print (either directly or via the HP Smart app) B&W is the only option. Happens on iPhone and iPad.

Hi @MattOnDartmoor,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a setting or configuration issue causing your HP Deskjet 2632 to only print in black and white from your iOS devices. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Printer Settings in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Select your printer.
  • Go to "Print" and then "Print Settings."
  • Ensure that "Color" is selected instead of "Black & White."

Check Printer Settings on iOS Devices:

  • When you are in the print preview screen on your iPhone or iPad, tap on "Options."
  • Make sure "Black & White" is not selected. Choose "Color" if the option is available.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your devices.
  • Go to the App Store and check for updates for the HP Smart app.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.

Reset Print Settings:

  • Sometimes resetting the print settings on your iOS device can resolve issues:
    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
    2. Go to "General" > "Reset."
    3. Select "Reset All Settings" (this will not delete your data, but it will reset system settings like Wi-Fi passwords and printer settings).
    4. After the reset, reconnect to your printer and try printing again.

Reinstall Printer on iOS Devices:

  • Remove the printer from your iOS device and then add it again:
    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go to "Bluetooth" and make sure it is turned on.
    3. Go to "Wi-Fi" and ensure you are connected to the same network as your printer.
    4. Open the HP Smart app, remove the printer, and then add it again by following the on-screen instructions.

Test Printing from a Different App:

  • Try printing from a different app to see if the issue persists. For example, print a photo from the Photos app or a document from the Files app.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • As a last resort, you can try a factory reset on the printer:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Hold down the "Cancel" button and the "Wireless" button together, then turn the printer back on.
    3. Keep holding the buttons until the printer starts resetting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
