Recently my Deskjet 2710e only prints part of a page when I start printing in the morning. This happens whether I print from my MacBook (running macOS Big Sur 11.7.0) of from my iPhone (iOS 18.5).
If I reprint the partial page again, from the same device, the page print perfectly.
Yesterday, this happened again later in the day, after a few hours between print jobs.
My printing output is small, typically <100 pages/month. Most days 1/2/3 pages, then occasionally larger documents.
Any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Chris

@sheddy53, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're experiencing an intermittent issue where your HP DeskJet 2710e printer only prints a partial page when you first attempt to print, but the second attempt works fine. Here are a few suggestions that might help resolve the issue:
Check Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware or drivers might cause odd printing issues, especially if your printer has been idle for a while.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
Check Connection Type
If you’re using a wireless connection, there may be an issue with the Wi-Fi signal or network stability when you first try printing.
Try printing with a USB cable for a test. If the issue doesn’t occur when connected by USB, the problem may be related to your network.
Ensure that your printer and devices are on the same Wi-Fi network (for wireless printing).
Print Queue and Jobs
Sometimes, the print queue can get stuck or corrupt, especially with small print jobs.
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (on your MacBook), select your printer, and click "Open Print Queue."
Clear any old or stalled print jobs and try printing again.
Restart your printer and your devices to reset everything.
Check Print Settings
Ensure that the print settings are correct, such as paper size and margins, as these might affect how the document is printed.
Sometimes the page size settings may not match, and it can cause odd printing behavior. Try changing the page size or scaling to see if it affects the print job.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
