Hello!
I really want to start printing my own pictures for selling, but after trying to do so I’ve noticie that the margins are never centered (with a white border) and sometimes not even the color is the same as the original photo. I have no idea how to solve this. Using the HP Smart app on my phone, the picture looked the same as the original but the margins are never equal on the 4 sides. I have ajusted the settings everywhere possible, tried printing in Lightroom but nothing works… I just want a perfect picture with the same colors and with a white 1 cm border on the 4 sides. HELP

Welcome to the HP User Community.
This is not the right printer for the job as you describe it.
This DeskJet printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge.
Print Margin Bottom (A4) | 12.7 mm | .5 inch |
Print Margin Left (A4) | 3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4) | 3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4) | 3 mm |
This DeskJet printer does not support Borderless printing.
Borderless Printing | No |
If you have not done so,
Install the full driver printer software.

Set your margins on all sides to be no less than the larger margin required by the printer.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to use HP Smart on PC because I already have it installed on my phone and on the desktop I can’t install. Don’t know why. I already tried to install HP Printer Software but it does not install fully. The configuration stops after inserting the printer PIN. (See attached pic)
Translation: Printing services connected.
It does nothing else.
How can I select the margins measures?
HP Smart does not have that option on the mobile app.
I’m really lost in this.

Presumably the HP Smart application is supported in Windows 8.1 OS.
I cannot test for you - we are not running any older Windows 8.x systems.
Unfortunately, the Easy Start software does not show it is supported in Windows 8.x
Rats.
The only expressed method to install the full driver in Windows is to use Easy Start.
More Rats.
Reference
HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software
What else?
Not sure - HP Smart Mobile does provide some simple editing function.
Without a printer that supports even / same margins on all sides, manually forcing the photo to fit evenly on the paper might prove more difficult than the operation is worth.
FYI only Example - HP Smart - Mobile - Transform / Resize - Move
HP_Smart_Mobile_Image_Print_Resize-Move_1
Customer is running old, unsupported Windows 8.x
Also does have HP Smart on an unknown phone.
Wants to edit / manage the printer margins - this model printer, of course, needs 12.7 mm on bottom edge.
Is there any way to get the full driver software to install in Windows 8.x for this new DeskJet printer?
HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer
Easy Start won't run in Windows 8.x
Thanks for checking...

Hi @Barbara301
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
Thanks for raising the questions:
Unfortunately, Win 8.1 is not supported on the HP DeskJet 2722e printer:
Minimum system requirements for Windows | Windows 10, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1): 32-bit or 64-bit, 2 GB available hard disk space, Internet connection, Internet Explorer. |

The HP FULL software might work (not sure but worth a shot). Try to download and install from here:
What we're suggesting is to download a copy of the FULL software diectly, or can try an offline copy method as shown in this resource:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oilY4nmJoK8
Hope it works, else the only way to get this printer setup is via a mobile phone with HP Smart app, this resource shows how it's done:

If needed, here's how to reset the wireless:

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reminder - and the attempts to make this work for @Barbara301 .
I'd forgotten that Windows 8.x is once again the "odd man out" - meaning "8" is frequently unsupported even as it's predecessor, Windows 7, can still sometimes run newer software for newer products.
Meh. Another reason not to run Windows 8.x. Smiling.
So, there are two issues and (perhaps) one additional difficulty:
- Printer Software that would normally support "even borders" creation might not install in your unsupported OS version.
- The printer hardware requires that larger margin along the one side - you cannot run a 1 cm border on all sides using this printer.
- Apparently (from your description), the printer hardware cannot produce an "even border" using the mobile application. I cannot test this one for you - both my printers support tiny (even) borders and borderless printing.
If the tips provided by @greenturtle help to "force" install the printer software,
If the software then runs properly in Windows 8.x,
(Then) You can likely print the content with "even borders" at 12.7 mm (1/2 inch).

Yup, that's what I thought. The Easy Start software does not work on my windows 8 PC.
"HP Smart Mobile does provide some simple editing function" - yes, I can adjust a little bit but does not center the photo, which is a shame, because it does not make sense 😕

Thank you for replying and trying to help me!
Unfortunately, I've already tried to install with all those links, and it doesn't work...
Also tried the Windows 7 offline version, but it is the same.
Guess I have to use it just for printing documents and simple files and not for professional photos.
Thank you all for the help!

You are welcome.
We cannot always provide the answers wanted. 😐
The HP Smart Mobile apps are less robust than the HP Smart Windows (and MacOS) version.
When / If you can upgrade your older computer to one that runs Windows 10 / Windows 11, things will be better.
The particular printer is not the best for professional photo printing - it does lack the margin / borderless options.
That said, the setups won't be quite as limited.
