I've tried the virtual support and manual suggestions for troubleshooting this error.  Unplugging, removing cartridges, reinserting plug, reinserting cartridges; various button combinations.  Is there a way to return the printer to factory settings?  I've seen posts for a service menu, but none that work for this model.  Can someone help with getting to this menu, please?  Or otherwise clear everything in memory.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This seems like a hardware issue with the printer.

Use the printer software or printer control panel to print an alignment page and align the cartridges.

  1. Print an alignment page.

    • Printer control panel (printers with control panel menus): Open the Tools or Printer Maintenance menu, and then select the option to Align cartridges, Align printhead, or Print an Alignment Page.

    • HP Smart app (Windows 10, macOS, Android, iOS): In the app, select your printer, click Print Quality Tools, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.

    • HP Printer Assistant (Windows): Click Maintain Your Printer, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.

  2. If your printer has a scanner, follow the directions on the alignment page to scan it and complete the alignment.

If the issue persists, please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

How do I get to the service menu for this series?  Specifically, I have a model Deskjet 3512.

Hi @Kaveman78,

Welome to HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand your printer is stuck on "Now printing alignment page"

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
